H&M is suffering some pretty ugly repercussions from their less than savvy choice of product. The company made an unfortunate decision of producing an offensive hoodie which was immediately received with an uproar.
The hoodie was worn by a black child being referenced to as a “monkey”. Many artists have come out and spoken against this poor choice by H&M.
H&M issued an apology and withdrew the product from all sites but it’s effect is still ringing. In their apology they stated, “We understand that many people are upset about the image of the child’s hoodie. We, who work at H&M, can only agree.”
“We’re deeply sorry that the image was taken, and we also regret the actual print. Therefore, we’ve not only removed the image from our channels, but also the garment from our product offering.”
