VH1 / New York Daily News

Legendary rapper Kidd Creole, who rose to fame in the OG rap group Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five was just arrested for killing a homeless man. He was taken into custody Wednesday.

In you don’t know, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were instrumental in the early days of hip hop. It’s safe to say the genre would not exist without them.

They were the first rap group inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, and their single “The Message” is regarded as one of the best songs of all time. It was sad, then, to learn that Kidd Creole had been working as a security guard in recent years.
